"I chose this image of a Palestinian olive tree for the background because my closest Palestinian friend often speaks fondly of their time spent exploring and praying amidst the olive groves near her home village, north of Gaza. The groves in and around Canaan are a commonly known symbol of Palestine, but I chose this image in particular-- of an olive tree recovering from an infestation of locusts, taken in the year 1915 outside Jerusalem-- as a symbol of Palestinian resilience, resistance, and their strength." - Nell Tremagne
